Is this a Wekusko picture? The house is well constructed and the logs are not only chinked, but they have a plaster over the moss chinking which keeps the dried moss from falling out and keeps the building warmer. Wekusko was built on limestone and the pole might be a clothesline. It would have been difficult to erect a clothesline because of the rock and this pole is well supported. There are flowers growing by the pole. This could also be a Herb Lake house, but Everson’s lived at Wekusko. Does anyone have ideas where this house was located.

This is a copy and there is a light spot on his pants that probably came from a flash. Does anyone know where this pic was taken? Is it a Herb Lake house?  The house might have been moved as it looks as if the foundation work is not complete.

Additional Info:  Since posting this pic, I  learned that the Kerr family lived in two houses in Herb Lake. The first house was in front of Bryentons Island, but back from the water, but ahead of the surveyed townsite.  This picture gives the impression that Jack has just exited his home and is standing on his doorstep to talk to someone, so this may be their first home at Herb Lake.

54 stan major vances

Kerr Family Photos:
Stan Major in front of the Kerr family residence, formerly Vance’s Store and Skulmoski’s store. The shed on the left side was storage. Stan Major later moved to Tramping Lake where he had a sawmill. There is a gas lamp in the doorway and it has already been turned on. The windows are probably not broken but the lines may be reflections. Gas barrels were often sitting around as gas was used for boat motors and kerosene used in lamps. The sidewalk is very even and might be cement. Most sidewalks were made from boards. The store sign from Vance’s store is missing as it was used at the front of the Snow Lake store, so this pic is after 1950.

There are not many pics of the Kerr family. If you have any please let us know.

The pic with Mildred Everson is in Herb Lake…she would of been around 12 years old when her family moved to the south end and a couple years later to Wekusko. (I am her son)
